The Winter Flute Workshop is an annual event open to the flute studio and the general flute community that includes a traditional masterclass and a closing recital.

Dan Parasky

Dan Parasky is a passionate flutist and dedicated educator. Founder of The Parasky Flute Studios (est. 1999), his students have achieved success in numerous competitions and performed internationally. He is an adjunct faculty member at Duquesne University.
A sought-after clinician, Mr. Parasky has presented at national/international flute conferences and at universities nationwide covering pedagogy, flute choir, studio management, giving master classes and has been the featured artist at flute day forums/festivals.
As an active performer, Parasky is a soloist, chamber musician, and guest conductor with a focus on contemporary music. He has performed with the National Flute Association (NFA) Professional Flute Choir, the International Low Flute Choir and as a guest soloist with the TRYPO Wind Ensemble. Parasky has collaborated with renowned musicians including Lucinda Williams, Warren Haynes, Gareth McLearnon, Kelly Zimba Lukić, Megan Ensor, Cobus du Toit, Bart Feller, Cassandra Eisenreich, and Naomi Seidman. His guest conducting engagements include the Mid- Atlantic High School Flute Choir in 2014, 2019, 2021, and 2022, the NFA Virtual High School Flute Choir in 2021, and the NFA combined High School/Collegiate Flute Orchestra in 2022. During his tenure as the Convention Flute Choir Coordinator for the NFA annual conventions, he initiated and significantly expanded the Flute Ensemble Festival.
Parasky holds a Master of Music in Music Education from Boston University and an undergraduate degree in Music Performance from Duquesne University. He resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Jackie, and enjoys running, gaming, and exploring various aspects of "nerd culture."
He is a Wm. S. Haynes Artist, performing on a custom 10k/14k gold flute and an alto flute and piccolo from the Haynes-Amadeus line. For further information, please visit paraskyflutestudios.com.
Sarah Shin

Dr. Sarah Shin is a vibrant and eclectic flutist, educator, and collaborator known for her dynamic presence on and off stage. She serves as Lecturer of Flute at Princeton University and is a member of the Richardson Chamber Players, affiliated with Princeton University Concerts. A passionate educator, arah has given master classes at renowned institutions like Carnegie Mellon University, Seoul National University (South Korea), Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and University of Virginia Flute Forum, amongst others.
She is an Artist on Tonebase Flute and a William S. Haynes Artist, performing on a custom 14k white gold Haynes flute.
Her solo album, Mozart Concertos for Flute and Orchestra Nos. 1 & 2, released on Sony Classical, is available on all streaming platforms. Career highlights include performing with Lizzo at the 2023 Met Gala and solo appearances across Europe with the Budapest MAV Symphony Orchestra, Savaria Symphony Orchestra, and the Prague Radio Chamber Orchestra. She has graced stages such as Vienna’s Musikverein, Salzburg’s Mozarteum, Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul, and New York’s Carnegie Hall.
Sarah is a strong advocate for new music, currently commissioning a flute and piano work by composer Juri Seo. She is also a founding member of the Emissary Quartet, a pioneering ensemble dedicated to expanding the flute repertoire, supported by grants from the Fromm Foundation, NewMusic USA, and others.
Named the 2023 Trailblazing Woman of the Arts by the Martha Graham Dance Company, Sarah is also a leader in arts advocacy. As past President of the New Jersey Flute Society, she co-founded initiatives like the NJFS Scholarship Fund and “NJFS Gives Back,” supporting national equity-focused organizations.
Originally from Ames, Iowa, Sarah made her concerto debut at 16. She holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon, Indiana University, and Rutgers University.

Matt Klumpp

Matt Klumpp holds a Masters of Music with an Emphasis in Collaborative Piano from Duquesne University. Matt performs with the Westmoreland Symphony, the Joan Chambers Concert Series at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, and as an accompanist with the Newlonsburg Music Academy and the Pittsburgh Flute Academy. Matt performs regularly in the jazz genre as well and maintains a private teaching studio at the Newlonsburg Music Academy. He is the newly appointed music director at Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
